Healthy Attitudes

One of the factors in achieving and maintaining good health is to have the right attitude. I know, there are a lot of articles written about attitude and you are probably tired of reading them or hearing about them. The point is this: unless you have a positive attitude about your health, the chances of you recovering your health or maintaining your good health is in question. It appears as if your body and all of it's organs are geared for proper operation by your outlook on life; in other words, your attitude.
I believe that you are who you say you are. If you constantly say that you don't feel very good, chances are you don't feel very good and that repeated advice to your body tells it to slow down and stop functioning. There is a wonderful little book that was written years ago, titled, HUNG BY YOUR TONGUE. The author states that if you say you are constantly broke, you will be broke . If you say you are always sick, chances are that you will always be sick. The banker can loan you money and the doctor can give you medication, but until you change your thinking process, by changing your attitude, you will never have money in your pocket nor will you enjoy a robust life.
I was having dinner with a friend of mine recently and I asked him how he was doing. He looked in good health and he even said he was"okay, if I don't get sick, like his friends are doing". I asked him if he thought that he would get sick and his answer surprised me. He said, "well, I probably will, but I hope not." That type of self confession goes against every rule of health that I know. It is an attitude that is pervasive in our society and injurious to everybody concerned.
There is a cute phrase that I have heard many times, which needs to be said by people on a daily basis. It is this: if it is to be, it is up to me. If I am to maintain good health, I must believe that I will be in good health. If I am to increase my money supply, I must believe it first before it will happen. If I believe in the power of God, I must first believe that it is true. It is always up to me to make the first move. It's no secret, it is always an admission to myself that it is up to me.
I have a friend, a mentor, Harold Wood, who has always taught me the difference between a winning attitude and a positive attitude. A winning attitude means that you will get the job done under any circumstance, while a positive attitude means that you look upon life as something to be enjoyed. It is a gift from God. You need both and if you are in doubt about it, just look around you or watch continuous television and see the misery and doubt about life and all of it's circumstances. Get your life juices flowing again and see the blueness in the sky and enjoy the barking of the dog. You will be a happier person and a healthier person.
God bless each of you.
