Holiday Health Hints
December 19, 2008
Walter W. Golden, P.T., CNFC
As we prepare for Christmas Day and the rest of the holiday season, I hope that you will take time to thank the people around you who have invested their lives into your life. I also hope that you will take time to thank God for his mercy and love towards you and the rest of us. I believe that learning how to say thank you and offering forgiveness to those who have offended you is another key ingredient to good health. Bitterness will absolutely shut your body down to the point that your organs will no longer function and then you know what happens. If you are still functioning, even the greatest doctors in the world or a change in diet will not help you, until you change your attitude.
A word of caution is in order. During this season, try to reduce the amount of sugar you are eating as well as the various types of food that will quickly turn to sugar in your
body. My suggestion is that you eat more green vegetables than anything else. I mentioned earlier that each plate of food should be composed of 20 percent of protein and 80 percent of "green stuff", meaning green vegetables. I also realized that this is the season but, reduce the amount of drink that changes to sugar as well as cake, ice cream, cookies etc. If you do, you will be happier and feel better after the holidays are over.
Many people have "somantic amnesia", meaning that they do not know when their bodies are saying enough is enough. Pay attention to what you body is saying and quit before you have had enough. Be aware of how you are feeling. If in doubt about how you are feeling, check it out with someone who knows, such as your doctor. It could be serious and it may be too late after the holiday season is over.
In the meantime, Jane and I and the rest of our family wish you the best in holiday blessings and may God watch over each of you with tenderness and mercy.
God bless you and merry Christmas.
