I have always believed that if a speaker is invited to speak, he or she should use the entire range of speaking skills in order to influence the audience. When those skills are not used, then the point of the message is lost and the audience leaves without the benefit of a person who speaks with passion and assurance. Leadership and success is always based on good communication skills and without it the question can be asked," how will the troops follow"? Over the years, I have heard speakers with good messages who fail to communicate simply, because they had no passion for what they were speaking about. I believe that a message should be delivered with passion and energy and that is what I do.
My philosophy for communication comes from my experience of growing up on the farm, which was followed by my years at Purdue University and the State University of Iowa. I then joined the United States Army and I found out how important communication was in leadership. Without effective communication, many soldiers would pay a heavy price.
I entered the business world, starting my practice in chronic pain and nutrition and following that successful enterprise, my brother, father and I bought a restaurant which had over 90 employs and that business taught me a lot about success. I also learned about success principles and the art of communication when my wife Jane and I built a marketing business. In all of my endeavors, I knew that speaking with conviction and energy along with being honest is very important for success and leadership. I have practiced those principles in my life and on the platform of speaking.
One of my favorite topics that I speak about is the Five Fundamental Principles of Success. This particular speech is very exciting and I have had excellent reviews of it. It is a speech that identifies the primary reasons for success such as, developing a winning attitude. It continues on with the idea that finding a mentor is critical to any success.
I also teach people about the principles of treating chronic pain and its ally, nutritional dysfunctions. Most chronic pain patients also have a corresponding nutritional deficit, which needs to be addressed. Proper nutrition requires understanding and knowledge, starting at the cellular level and the free radical connection. Without understanding the purpose of anti-occident, free radical cells will destroy the good cells and over a period of time, diseases will develop.
I always try to help the audiences apply the rules of good health to their lives: namely, drink water, exercise, take anti-occident and reduce simple carbohydrate intake. With this formula, a healthy life style can be lived.
